 Body moderately elongate. Mouth inferior, crescentic; snout slight prominent. Four pairs of barbel:   Body elongate, slightly compressed. Back brownish dark, sides darkish silvery, below light. In adults

 InInhabit in shallow water with sandy bottom of rapidly flowing river. They feed on benthic invertebrates.  Inhabits in center of lake. In summer occurs in rivers, winters spend in deep sites of lakes. Body length
                     reach up to 58 cm. Spawning from May to June. Lay eggs on sand and gravel bottom. Feeds on benthic
                     larvae of insects, sometimes crayfish.
