            In Mongolia: rivers and lakes of Selenge drainage, in Lake Khuvsgul and its tributaries, Lakes Ugii, Terkhiin        In Mongolia: Onon drainage. Outside Mongolia: Amur drainage.
            Tsagaan; rivers and lakes of Amur drainage, in upper reaches of Rivers Onon, Kherlen, Khalkh; Lake Buir.             Ecological characteristics
            Outside Mongolia: northern Eurasia, from France to River Lena, Black and Caspian Seas basins.
                                                                                                                                 Inhabits highland rivers and lakes with sand and gravel bottom. Benthic life style, hiding under rocks.
            Ecological characteristics                                                                                           Not active to move. Body length usually 7-8 cm. Feeds on benthic insect larvae, fish eggs and small fry.
            Fresh cold water species. Inhabits rivers and streams with riffles, and cool clear waters in lakes of high
            land. In summer occurs at the upper reaches of the rivers. In autumn when water temperature decreases
            burbot moves to down habitats in main course of the river.
